This past week was spent writing assessments for the Independent Study and Mentorship program and reflecting over the first semester of the school year. As we reach the halfway mark in this program, we spent the week writing about our original work projects and how they turned out.

At the beginning of the week, ISM students turned in their semester project, the original work. After this, we all wrote a paper reflecting on our project, how the process went, and how it turned out. Looking back on my project, I feel very proud of what I have accomplished so far. My original work turned out better than I was expecting. I believe that because my original work turned out to be a successful template to a handout to give to bilingual parents, it will make my final product go smoothly. I will be able to use the format and ideas from my original work and apply that to the final product.

The steps I have taken in this program so far have lead me closer to becoming a successful bilingual education teacher in the future. I will be able to look back at my original work and use the skills I learned from it. I am excited to begin working on my final product, where I will be creating a handout and giving it to the families of bilingual students in my mentor’s class.
