Lauren Gaharan

I am currently a junior at reedy high school involved in a year long independent study and mentorship program where I am studying elementary bilingual education.

i have gained a lot of experience in the education industry during my life. i have always known that i wanted to be a teacher. i grew up with a mom who works for Frisco isd, so I have always had a teacher influence in my life. Ever since I was a baby, I have been an active member of parkway Hills baptist Church in Plano, Texas. For a few years, I have been working in the kids ministry every summer during the week long summer camps they offer throughout the break. These camps have given me experience with multiple different ages and personalities of children. Recently, I was offered the position of first grade teacher on Sunday mornings. This role has taught me so much and I love teaching the first graders every Sunday morning.

I have also been greatly impacted by past teachers in my own life. Past teachers have shown me how fun it is to be a teacher and made me realize how rewarding the job is.

On the other hand, my passion for the Spanish language did not come until my Spanish class during my freshmen year of high school. Señora Lau passed her love of Spanish onto me and made me realize how cool it would be to combine both my passions, teaching and Spanish, into one.

This year, I am determined to make the most of the opportunities I will be given. I hope to end this year with a strong foundation that  can take with me in my future as an Elementary bilingual education Teacher.
