This week in Independent Study and Mentorship was filled with a lot of preparing for presentations, interviews, and other activities. The highlights of this week included printing out every single Assessment and Weekly Report, inserting each individual page into a sheet protector, and preparing for an interview with Frisco ISD Bilingual/ESL Coordinator, Meredith Choate. Although this week was a long and stressful week, it helped me to get ready for big things coming in the future.
This week I reflected over every piece of information that I have learned this year from research and interviews. Before this week, I never actually thought of how much I have grown this year alone. As I pulled all of the information together, I made a presentation that showcases the main pieces of information that I have learned about so far. I will present this information next week as my first Research Presentation.
Along with preparing for my presentation, I got ready for the biggest interview I have had so far. On Friday, I met with Mrs. Meridith Choate, Bilingual/ESL Coordinator for Frisco ISD. This was nerve wracking as she is in charge of the bilingual program for the whole district. Mrs. Meridith Choate was extremely kind, caring, and gave me information that will help me be successful in the future. This was probably one of the best interviews and I left ready to take on the rest of the year. Mrs. Meridith Choate even gave me a list of three second and third grade bilingual teachers that she knows will be great people to ask to be my mentor.
Moving forward from this week, I will present the presentation and contact the three teachers that Mrs. Meridith Choate gave me. I know that I am very close to finding a mentor, therefore, I am excited for the upcoming weeks.
