Although I am three weeks into this program, this week came with many firsts. This week I began researching bilingual education along with a list of professionals in that field. Throughout this week I had to work my way around the obstacles of procrastination and finding accurate information for my field of study.

This week of ISM consisted of multiple assignments all due on the same day. To add on to this, these assignments all required a lot of work and time. One of the jobs in this third week of class was to build a list of potential mentors to contact for interviews. This was very exciting, as it felt like the journey was starting to begin. Along with the contact list, we built a list of fifteen questions to ask when we meet up with these professionals. As I wrote the list, I began to think of what I really want to know about bilingual education programs. These questions will eventually be used to gather information to use for assessments and presentations.

The assessment of the week was the main cause of conflict. Because it was the first one of the year and was piled along with homework from not only ISM but other classes, it caused a lot of stress as I was completing it. Learning the ins and outs of databases and reliable articles take a lot time to figure out. Not only was finding articles to annotate and write about challenging, I dealt with many obstacles at home that resulted in procrastination. My family and I adopted a new, very sweet, dog this week which of course, caused every family member to spend too much time snuggling with Sophie, and less time completing school work. Even though I did not start till the second half of the week, I overcame the obstacles and completed all my work with one hundred and ten percent.

Although this program's workload is starting to pick up and challenges are beginning to appear, I am beyond excited to see what the future has in store. I am ready to begin the next week when we begin using skills and information from this week and applying it to the real world.
