This week was a crucial week in the Independent Study and Mentorship class. Throughout the week I went through many firsts. The highlight of the week, the Frisco ISD ISM Business Symposium, was a huge stepping stone in the ISM journey.

On Wednesday afternoon, ISM students from all around the district met to practice small talk, interviews, networking, and to learn about how to succeed in the upcoming years. The three and a half hour long event taught not only the importance of finding comfortable heels, but the importance of improving professional skills. The section of the symposium that I found most important was the mock interviews. After speaking to two very different professionals, I learned how to build myself up in an interview setting. The interviews also taught me how to read a situation and the right way to respond to different scenarios. It gave me an idea of what interviews in my future will be like. Now that I have the first two awkward interviews out of the way, I can move forward and succeed in future meetings. The Business Symposium was extremely helpful for teaching ISM students the way to succeed in the professional world.

This past week was proven to be crucial for success in this program and in my future. The things I learned this week will stay with me my whole life. I am confident that because of what I went through this week, I will succeed in the future in all aspects of the professional life.
